New Versions Of Four BlaknBlu Modules

BlaknBlu has announced new versions of four major products. A spokesperson told us, "It's been a couple years since we released the first of our 10HP Eurorack modules, so we reckoned it was time for an update." Here's the company's press release with the full details...

On March 1st 2026 we'll drop the Mark II versions of our stereo VCO Oscar Tria, stereo VCF
Foxtrot Duo, stereo VCA/Ring Mod/Overdrive Alpha Duo as well as the complex oscillator Oscar
DSF.

A total redesign of the analog electronics has freed us to move the knobs and jacks around,
while keeping the great sound of the original modules (of course), plus it's given us the space to
add some additional CVs and controls.

Like the Mk I, all the modules are stereo, but they can now be switched to mono - summing their
outputs for easier integration into mono signal flows.

Oscar Tria2 Stereo VCO
At its core, Oscar Tria Mk II has 25 oscillators, all packed into 10HP. Each oscillator can be swept from sawtooth through triangle to square (with PWM). These oscillators can be used in three different ways.

• A stereo swarm oscillator. 24 oscillators and a sub for a massive sound. Tria2 now offers control of the detune of the oscillators, from subtle to wild. Classic super-saws, ripping super-pwm pulses and ethereal super triangles, with everything in between.
• A 'traditional' stereo VCO. Two main oscillators form a stereo pair, with a sub an octave below and a sub-sub two octaves below. One oscillator can be detuned up to an octave for subtle richness or fixed intervals, plus you get hard sync and linear, through-zero FM. Tria2 adds a new sinusoidal wave folder (with CV control, of course) for even more sonic shenanigans. The wave folder adds rich harmonics to the base oscillator. Changing the waveform (under CVcontrol) and the wave folder at the same time sounds awesome!
• Chord mode uses the multiple oscillators to create polyphonic chords. There are 20 chords available, and the chord type can beselected by CV – so a sequencer can produce anything from polyphonic pads to stabs. With Tria2 the chords can now be stretched over 5 octaves – and don't forget that Tria2 is stereo, so you can still get those rich detuned sounds.

Foxtrot Duo2 Stereo VCF
A great VCF is the heart of any rack, and Foxtrot Duo2 offers threeclassic filters in one module.

• A fat, squelchy ladder filter based on the Minimoog.
• A crazy, screaming Sallen & Key filter based on the first edition of the Korg MS-20
• A velvety and rich state variable filter based on the Oberheim SEM.

Each filter can be swept from Band Pass, through Low Pass to High Pass (with Notch on the way!) plus there's a 12dB input boost if you want to drive the filters harder.

Foxtrot Duo2 is stereo, so has two completely separate filter paths. A new control (and CV) allows you to offset the cutoff frequencies of the two filters, which can generate anything from formant-style sounds in Band Pass, to frequency pans in Low and High Pass, to phase effects with the notch filter.

Plus, there's a new, dedicated V/Oct input for improved keyboard tracking.

Alpha Duo2 Stereo VCA/Ring Mod with Overdrive
Like the original, Alpha Duo2 is a stereo VCA with a warm, valve emulation overdrive as well as a harder, clipping style overdrive.
Flip the response switch to 4 quadrant, and Alpha Duo2 becomes a ring modulator. In 4S mode, each of the two stereo channels acts independently with separate CVs.
New features in Alpha Duo2 include a CV input for overdrive level, and a handy 6dB input boost, which can help if you have a low input level – from a heavily filtered oscillator, for instance – or if you just want some more oomph into the overdrive.

Oscar DSF2 Stereo Complex VCO
For people who love the classic sounds of FM but don't want to spend decades setting up algorithms, carriers and modulators.
Oscar DSF2 gives you everything from deep FM basses to classic DX style bells, tings and clangs, to dark drones, to marimbas... All with just a couple of controls. In the words of one of our customers, "it's FM without the hassle".

Like Oscar Tria2 in 'Green Mode', Oscar DSF2 offers two oscillators for true stereo outputs, or flip the switch to sum them to mono.
Detune one for rich, wide stereo effects, or tune them to a fixed interval.

Pair Oscar DSF2 with a good modulation source – like our Doug module – and the build-in VCA gives you a unique stand-alone voice – nothing else required. Oscar DSF2 now has a dedicated VCA CV attenuator for when you are driving the VCA from the Partials CV input, as well as a new dedicated VCA CV input.
