Two Button Beats with Zero Code

US Moritz Klein builds minimalist drums      30/09/25

Moritz Klein is back with a new module, this time making beats with as few elements as possible - using a shift register as a trigger sequencer. He adds a Metronome LED, as well as some smart accents (using a Triangle LFO), with synced accents (using LFO sync), before adding sequence length & half time mode - culminating in a demo. Here's more from Moritz:

Most drum sequencers are packed with buttons and LEDs, all driven by a microcontroller. I wanted to design my own – but wiring up 16+ buttons on a breadboard? That would get messy quick. And we haven't even started coding yet. So for this video, I set myself a challenge: what's the most minimal DIY drum sequencer I can design without compromising on playability?
