Setting up for our weekly live SonicTALK show yesterday (which you can watch here), I found that my usual Camera Interface (BlackMagic Atem) and Audio Interface (Zoom L6) would not connect as interfaces for the web based Video Conferencing system we use.
This was with about 15 minutes to live - don't you just love that? This manifested in me being able to select the preferred devices in the drop downs on the web page UI for the call (Vmixcall) but would not stick - always reverting back to built in webcam and laptop mic.
It seems that a recent update to Chrome on OSX has introduced an extra level of security - which I figured out after the fact - I had to scramble and set up Safari (not my default browser) at the last minute.
I was using the latest Chrome Browser OS X Version 138.0.7204.184 (Official Build) (arm64)
Anyhow, here's how I fixed it:
Going to chrome://settings/content/camera (you can paste this into your address bar if it doesn't open) I noticed that I could set a default device here and changed it to my preferred device:

Same goes for Audio devices

You will have to change this each time you want t swap these devices, then reload the page you are trying to connect with.
This appears to be a new thing and will probably catch some of you out, in case you find yourself in the same sort of pickle I did. Updates can have some unintended consequences.
You're welcome.
