At NAMM 2025, we spoke to Trevor from Aim Audio, a relatively new audio brand based in Berlin, Germany. He introduced us to their line of large diaphragm condenser microphones, including the flagship model, Inspire, and its smaller sibling, Essence. These microphones are crafted in the home of the modern condenser microphone and offer unique features aimed at providing innovative options for audio recording.
A standout feature of the Inspire microphone is its dual output stages. You can seamlessly switch between electronically balanced and transformer-based outputs, providing different tonal characteristics. The electronic output suits percussive elements like drums and strummed acoustic guitars, while the transformer output is ideal for vocals and finger-picked guitar.
The Inspire also features five polar patterns for diverse applications, whereas the Essence offers a more streamlined cardioid pattern option. The Inspire is priced at $849 and the Essence at $629, both available with accessories.
