At Machina Bristronica 2023, we had a chat with Dan from DPW Design, who unveiled his latest creation Mix - a compact four channel stereo mixer. Mix doesn't cut corners when it comes to audio quality, boasting an impressive 150kHz bandwidth, ensuring pristine sound without phase delays. Dan has also carefully designed the mixer's clipping behavior, allowing for controlled clipping at plus-minus 10 volts, providing transparency even when pushing signals to their limits. One standout feature is the limiter, which offers brick-wall limiting at plus-minus five volts, effectively acting as a form of distortion, rounding off the edges of the waveforms for added character.
The mixer's M-switches enable flexibility, transforming stereo inputs into mono and providing crossfading capabilities for up to eight channels. With LEDs indicating signal levels, it's easy to monitor your audio visually.
