AU/VST Polyrhythmic Sequencer

US 510K releases SEQUND by Alexkid      14/11/22

AU/VST Polyrhythmic Sequencer

510K tells us that, after success with a series of boutique Max4Live sequencers and producer tools, Alexkid has launched SEQUND, which they describe as a powerful, multi-platform AU/VST polyrhythmic sequencer combining the best features of all its polyrhythmic sequencer predecessors and then some. They say that, with early support from some of house music's most renown producers, the unique piece of software comes packed with pre-sets from Alexander Kowalski, Arno, Brawther, Christian Burkhardt, Cristi Cons, Cyrk, D'Julz, Goldmoon, Janeret, Josh Wink, Katie Drover, Okain, Oshana, Reboot, Robin Ordell, Rodriguez Jr., Soela, tINI, and Tripmastaz. Here's the story in their own words...

7 months of development in conjunction with Tadashi Tsuginomori from HY-Plugins and Resonant Design for the UX/UI, has resulted in a unique tool and striking aesthetic, setting it apart from more traditional monophonic sequencer designs.

The first of many features includes being able to set a different amount of steps per Gate lane generating the rhythm, and per Pitch lane generating the melody as usually those are always linked together. By setting different values on those two lanes, the sequence evolves in very musical manners, yet creating unexpected melodies created by the shifting gate/pitch correspondence.

Like the brand's user's favourite Probabilistic sequencer, SEQUND features two melodic lanes and a probability lane sequence allowing you to alternate between both melodies. Each lane has an independent length thus facilitating the generation of complex polyrhythms and evolving patterns with disconcerting ease. Hold, Chance, Length, Octave, Transpose and 3 MIDI CC# lanes have been added to make this sequencer step up from its previous design.

Whether you want to create basslines with subtle variations or eccentric melodies, SEQUND's intuitive interface facilitates your creative process... Each user pre-set contains up to 12 patterns that can be recalled instantly via MIDI notes to allow pattern changes on the fly with seamless transitions and precise timing.

The new Transpose function is available before or after the scale quantisation, allowing you to shift your melody and always stay in key whatever you do, or act like a traditional transpose. The Transpose function is also controllable via MIDI notes, which means that you can transpose your sequence in real time via your keyboard whilst recording into your DAW. You can "play the sequencer" if you like and use it with Soft-Synths as well as Hardware Synths. While the randomisation features have been kept and improved for instant generation of sequences.

Created by Alexkid, a veteran with over 25 years as a Producer, DJ, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer and self-professed perfectionist, this is a tool created by an artist with artists firmly in mind. With a focus on love and attention to the functionality in order to create simple -or very complex- sequences in a breeze whilst maintaining the fun factor. SEQUND has a unique architectural design which makes it stand out from more traditional alternatives where simplicity is paramount and essential features are enhanced, resulting in an intuitive yet powerful and inspiring tool.
