KARMA Developer Stephen Kay has now made it possible for M50 owners to have the same KARMA functionality as the higher-end Korg M3 and OASYS, with the release of KARMA M50 Software for the Korg M50. Here's the details that Stephen has sent us...
Running on your PC, (Mac/Windows), the software provides you with all of the inspirational and interactive KARMA features, grooves, and KARMA-fied Combis and Programs of the M3. The only difference is that the KARMA engine is provided by the computer, not built-in to the keyboard.
The program runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher (fully compatible with 10.5 Leopard), on Windows XP (32 and 64 bit), and Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit).
KARMA M50 comes with 384 KARMA-fied Combis from the M3, and 608 KARMA Program assignments for the M50's Programs. A special M50 Control Surface Mode allows you to use the 4 knobs and 4 chord switches of the M50, along with the 4 control surface modes, to change between 8 KARMA scenes, trigger 8 KARMA chord buttons, move sliders and switches in KARMA's Real-Time Control Window, and more. And external controllers like Korg's nano-series can be easily interfaced for even more Real-Time control. You can import MIDI phrases from .MID files (which can be exported by the M50's sequencer) and turn them into Generated Effects for instant interactivity and variability that takes the original phrase in hundreds of different directions.
