Tracktion Updates Waveform Free

Tracktion Corporation has introduced Waveform Free 14.1, which they say brings powerful new tools for creating, analysing and delivering music to any platform.

A spokesperson told us, "Combining unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, third-party plugin support and a complete recording and mixing environment with intelligent mix analysis and rebuilt export tools, Waveform Free gives creators more freedom to take their ideas to release. With no track-count restrictions or trial expiry, creators can build ambitious arrangements, record full bands and finish productions at their own pace. Version 14.1 builds on that foundation to answer two essential questions: how does my mix sound, and is it ready to share?"

Mix feedback grounded in your music

New Mix Analysis lets Waveform's AI Assistant examine your project's audio. It can render and analyse a full mix, individual tracks or a selected time range, measuring loudness, true peak, dynamics, spectral balance, masking and mono compatibility. Ask why a mix sounds muddy and the Assistant can identify contributing tracks and frequencies. Use /mixcheck to assess a mix against your release platform's target, make an adjustment, then measure again to understand the result. This informed feedback helps newcomers learn and experienced producers investigate problems faster.

From finished mix to final delivery

A completely rebuilt Render window simplifies exporting. Background render queues keep work moving, while pattern-based file naming with a live preview helps organise deliverables. LUFS normalisation with a true-peak ceiling gives users control over final delivery levels.
Together, Mix Analysis and the new export tools connect the finishing workflow: understand the mix, refine it and prepare the final file, all inside Waveform Free.

Tracktion's Attracktive instrument is now built in and free across every edition, with factory content available through the Download Manager. A new Plugins detail editor displays a track's plugins inline, while a Pattern Generator toggle in the Clip detail editor makes composition tools easier to reach. A rewritten MP3 encoder and stability improvements round out the update.
