Baby Audio are back with a new release - HyperWarp, a granular effect plugin built around a graphical time sequencer.
Instead of dialling grain clouds into shape by numbers, you draw the movement: speed shifts, stutter steps and direction changes become a curve that reshapes the incoming audio on the fly. This is more in keeping with their Transit2 plug-in and uses some of the same concepts for real-time manipulation.
The engine breaks the signal down into microsampled grains and reassembles them through one of seven effect profiles. Each profile is its own configuration of the granular engine with four macro knobs mapped to the parameters that matter for that character - the range runs from clean time manipulation, through frantic modulation, all the way to extreme lo-fi. Eight front panel controls plus the graph is the entire interface.

There is a built-in library of preset graph shapes and smart randomization across all parameters, so usable starting points come at the click of a button. From there you can redraw the graph, blend wet against dry, and dig deeper into the granular engine underneath. Over 200 custom presets from producers and sound designers are included.
Use it on a loop or a stem and you get glitch-chopped rhythms or smeared, time-warped movement, depending on how you draw. The graphical sequencer-first approach and the curated profiles put it closer to a performance tool than a standard granular processor and lets you do some pretty wild time shifting.
HyperWarp is $99 MSRP, with an introductory price of $49. It runs on Mac and PC, including Apple Silicon, and works in all major DAWs.
