Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxygene (for many) is one of those electronic milestones, a centrepiece if you will - a marvel for the time it was released, and a seemingly prophetic glipse into the futre of synthesis and sound design. It's just been announced that the album will have a 50th anniversary release, having been remastered from the original tapes by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. It's due for release on the 20th of November, with pre-orders open now. Here's more:
"When I created OXYGENE, I was working directly with analogue instruments and tape, and the sound had a particular depth, movement and life of its own. For this anniversary edition, we returned to the original tapes with the aim of preserving that character rather than changing it" - Jean-Michel Jarre
Remastered for the first time in 50 years, Jean-Michel Jarre has announced a special 50th anniversary edition. Created from the original tapes by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, the anniversary editions include a 180g black-vinyl edition, CD, limited-edition coloured eco-vinyl, and Blu-Ray. Alongside the physical product suite, is OXYGENE in Dolby Atmos for the first time.
Pre-order your copy of OXYGENE 50th Anniversary Editions from the official store for your chance to win a pair of tickets to attend a special Dolby Atmos playback in Amsterdam at STMPD Studios on October 23rd.
