Robin Rimbaud has teamed up with Soniccouture to release Library - a VST instrument which brings together his world of recordings - in a minimal and accessible way. The plugin is based on the four track recorders Robin used, offering you a vast catalogue of sounds - combined in different voices, with something which is deliberately imperfect. Some of the recordings go back to the late 70s - and are divided into source recordings, modular recordings, and rhythmic recordings. It comes with 400 recordings, 200 presets and is a 3.5GB KONTAKT library.

A Personal History Of Sound
Scanner and Soniccouture have collaborated to develop a custom tool to utilise his huge personal tape archive, documenting an entire sonic life and career. Stripped back to the basics, Scanner: Library is a bold experiment in the power of layering sound. With such a diverse and characterful archive to draw upon, it was imperative that the interface would tread lightly. Three modules with basic envelopes + filters, a delay unit and some custom reverbs. This setup gives over 10 million possible combinations of sounds gathered over a 40 year career.Fragments, Loops & Possibilities
Scanner: Library features 401 original recordings + a library of 200 presets to get you started. Robin designed over 100 presets himself. Most of the audio was recovered from cassette tapes, and features the famous police scanner recordings, electronic improvisations, location audio, analogue experiments and all manner of sonic ephemera. These recordings were then processed by Scanner through his expansive modular rig, bringing new life and texture to the original tape fragmentsThe Scanner instrument is composed of three identical modules plus a delay + reverb module. Each module has envelope controls, filter controls (with harmonic presets), wow and start randomisation. Each module can be set to play in Pitched / Fixed / Backdrop Mode. You can reverse the sample or load your own.
