CHOMPI is now Open Source

US Unit discontinued but firmware & DIY builds open      01/10/26

CHOMPI arrived on the scene to a chorus of approval, with it's lo-fi sampling capabilities, cheeky cartoon adornments, and quick live looping workflow. Sadly, the time has come for the unit to be discontinued ,but if you bought one fear not, the unit is now open source - meaning anyone in the music tech community can program the unit as they see fit. Along with the announcement, they've released a new beta firmware called WAVE, which is a wavetable synth, available free for everyone to play with.

Here's more from the video:

Our little pal CHOMPI is officially being discontinued. That's the bad news. The good news is that we've decided to make it open source as a result. You now have everything you need to edit firmware, create your own firmware from scratch, and even physically build a DIY CHOMPI of your own. We're also releasing a new beta firmware called WAVE - a wavetable synth - that's available for everyone to play with, and an ideal starting point for open source work. You can find everything you need to get started on the CHOMPI website.
