AUv3 For Adding Air & Digital Texture

Shape of Sound has released Wind Crusher, an AUv3 plug-in. Developer Alistair told us, "It came out of experimenting with whether things normally associated with degrading digital audio -- quantisation, dither, reduced bit depth and saturation -- could instead be used to add air, breath and texture."

Wind Crusher allows you to bring life into a sound by adding air, breath, fizz and movement without immediately destroying the identity of the source. A large AIR control provides the main gesture, with smaller controls for bit depth, texture, tone, Air EQ and mix.

• Enhance fragile vocal or instrument sounds to include more air.
• Bring texture and interest to the top end of pads.
• To move from subtle enhancement into digital destruction.
