Human-Played Drum Fills For Your DAW

Yurt Rock, the sample library company behind recordings from Clyde Stubblefield, Nate Smith, Daru Jones, Antonio Sanchez, and more than 40 other world-class drummers, has announced the release of Dr. Fill, a new plug-in that puts custom drum fills on demand inside the producer's DAW.

Drum fills are one of the most persistent pain points in modern production. Programmed fills sound stiff, sample-pack fills rarely match the track's tempo or feel, and AI-generated drums lack the touch of a real player.Yurt Rock says that Dr. Fill addresses all three: every fill in the plug-in was performed by a real session drummer, tempo-synced to the user's project, and ready to drag and drop directly onto the timeline.

Ryan Gruss, founder of Yurt Rock, told us, "Every producer knows the moment -- the track is grooving, then the fill comes in and gives it away as fake. We've spent fifteen years recording the best drummers alive. Dr. Fill takes that library and puts the exact fill you need, played by a real human, one drag-and-drop away. No AI, no quantized MIDI mush -- actual drummers, in your session, in seconds."

Key Features

  • Custom fills on demand -- browse and audition fills tempo-synced to the project, directly inside the DAW
  • Played by real drummers -- every fill is a human performance from the Yurt Rock roster; nothing is AI-generated
  • Drag and drop into any DAW -- fills drop straight onto the timeline as audio
  • MIDI export -- adapt fills to any drum instrument or sampler
  • WAV export in 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz
  • Simple authorization -- free Yurt Rock account; no iLok, no dongle

Dr. Fill runs as a VST3, AU, and Standalone application on macOS 11 or later (Intel and Apple Silicon native) and Windows 10/11 (64-bit). AAX format is coming soon.
