UJAM Launches Virtual Drummer NEON

US The punch of electronic drums combined with the groove and feel of a real drummer      13/08/26

UJAM has announced Virtual Drummer NEON, a new title in its Virtual Drummer Series. They say that, designed for contemporary pop, disco, dance, and electronic productions, NEON brings the punch and precision of electronic drums while preserving the groove and feel of a real drummer. Here's the details direct from the company...

Recording convincing drum performances remains one of the most challenging aspects of music production, requiring not only the right drummer, drum kit, microphones, room, and processing, but also the feel and musicality that bring a performance to life. UJAM created the Virtual Drummer Series to simplify that process, giving producers access to studio-quality drum performances that feel like working with a professional session drummer while remaining fast, intuitive, and fully customizable within a DAW.

NEON expands the series with a sound inspired by one of today's defining production techniques: drums that combine the impact of electronic drum machines with the dynamics and groove of an acoustic performance. Rather than forcing producers to choose between programmed precision and human feel, NEON brings both together in a single instrument designed for contemporary pop, nu disco, synthwave, funk, and dance productions.

"At its core, NEON captures the sound and energy of modern disco, but there's so much fun to be had pushing those sounds toward rock, hip-hop, and beyond," said Nate Williams, musical director behind NEON and a longtime collaborator with Jamiroquai and Steve Winwood. "I enjoyed creating grooves and mixes rooted in funk and soul that give people inspiring starting points for their own tracks while still leaving plenty of room to shape the sound and performance into something uniquely their own."

Whether building a nu disco groove, adding punch to a synth-pop production, or creating tight, energetic drums for contemporary pop and dance tracks, NEON gives musicians, songwriters, and producers a fast starting point while leaving every performance fully customizable through MIDI editing, mix controls, and flexible sound-shaping options.

NEON includes five customizable drum kits, hundreds of performance-ready grooves, drag-and-drop MIDI editing, mix presets, and the new Glam control, allowing users to move from a more natural acoustic performance to the polished, punchy sound associated with contemporary chart productions.

NEON supports VST2, VST3, AU2, and AAX formats and is compatible with macOS and Windows operating systems.
