Inside Michael Jackon's Earth Song

US Emotionally charged epic with Carlos Rodgarman, Guy Pratt ... and Jarvis Cocker      13/08/26

You might remember Earth song for the gargantuan all-encompassing planet pop hit that it is, or, indeed for Jarvis Cocker's equally epic stage entrance during the songs live performance at the 1996 Brit Awards. If you're interested in either take, read on!

The video above goes into the instrumentatation, mix and arrangement of the song with Carlos Rodgarman (the guy who recently remastered the History album in Dolby Atmos) covering it's subtle and emotive elements which build to a crescendo of many magnitudes. The vocals and wonderful choral pad also are undeniably powerful elements worth listening to. As well as the production insight, he also plays the sections on the piano beautifully.

Here's another guy... bassist Guy Pratt on the superb part he wrote for the song...

Here he is answering a question on it for Justin Hawkins (we can't embed shorts on the site).

And below we have a more "down to earth" take on the song, an interview with Jarvis Cocker, lead singer of Pulp, and his view in the aftermath of  him storming the stage at the national award ceremony 30 years ago...
