1010music Blackbox 2 Now Available

1010music has announced the availability the blackbox 2, a second-generation version of its battery-powered compact sampler. We saw it for the first time at Superbooth earlier this year, and it's now available to order.

The blackbox 2 is built for DAWless music making - version 1 was everywhere - lots of performers use it to trigger and play samples and sequences.  V2 is stll  a small box with a colour touchscreen for recording, editing and performing. V2  doubles the processing power of the original and adds a higher-resolution 4in display, plus a step sequencer, Loop Groups and a performance-oriented Launch screen that 1010music users will recognise from the larger bento. Scenes and Song mode let you run through whole sets.

Key features include:

• Sequencing: step sequencer, grid/piano roll editing and probability.
• Loop Groups: launch multiple loops together with BPM sync.
• Live looping: MIDI-triggered recording with immediate playback, audio threshold or set-length recording.
• DJ effects: filter, echo, gater, flanger, bitcrusher and repeater, with XY control.
• Sampling: automatic multisample creation, internal resampling and recordings up to 4 hours long.
• I/O: one stereo input, three stereo outputs, headphone out, USB-C host and device for multichannel audio and MIDI, plus TRS MIDI and clock in/out.

As before, it runs from a microSD card - the included card has over 140 patches and more than 6,800 samples - and the internal battery means it can run away from the mains. The four tracks can be assigned to Shredder, One-Shot, Loop, Slicer, Multisample or External instrument types, and One-Shot and Loop patches hold up to 16 samples each.
