We distilled the complete workflow into five intuitive controls:

• Ignite: Adds perceived loudness and density. The quiet parts of the signal rise toward the peaks while the peaks themselves stay untouched, so the mix gets bigger and fatter without squashing dynamics or raising peak levels.
• Heat: Tape saturation. Analog warmth, character, and glue, all the way to grit if you push it.
• Punch: A transient shaper. Restores snap and impact for punchier drums.
• Weight: Sub reinforcement. Solidifies the low end and removes mud.
• Air: Harmonic enhancement. Reveals high-frequency detail and presence without harshness.

 

We calibrated VATRA to work equally well on full mixes and individual channels. We made sure that VATRA has enough range to cover more nuanced processing on a mix bus as well as broader changes on individual tracks. You can use Air to open up a dull vocal and Weight to completely transform a thin bassline. Drum busses love it too, especially with a touch of Punch. It also works great on guitars, synths, and sound effects.
