Lambda PolyPulse Gets Wavetable Synthesis
US
And Sounds from Koarse in a free update 09/07/26
Lambda Synthetics has added a wavetable engine to its PolyPulse groovebox, alongside deeper sequencer modulation and a browser-based screen mirror - all in a free update.
If you've not come across it, the PolyPulse is the standalone performance workstation from Dutch builder Ward Slager, the one in the industrial metal enclosure with five tracks, algorithmic sequencing and morphing touchpads.
What's new:
Wavetable synthesis added to the subtractive sound engine - two wavetable oscillators alongside FM, multimode filters and a noise/sample player
A wavetable mini-engine added to the quad engine, which stacks four synths/samplers on one track
Almost all sequencer parameters can now be modulated - LFOs, envelopes and randomness assigned to note chance, pulse interval, octave and more, which is where the PolyPulse's parameter-driven sequencer gets genuinely deep
Improved internal (re)sampling with automatic record start/stop, so you're not manually trimming every sample after the fact
The internal display can now be mirrored to a browser on a computer, tablet or phone - useful given how much this machine buries in menus
To mark the update, rave producer and sound designer Koarse spent time with the machine and made a free pack: 42 samples, 35 presets and 30 wavetables, bundled in with the update.
Lambda also used Superbooth to introduce Wavetable Designer, a separate browser-based tool for building wavetables for pretty much any soft or hardware synth that loads custom tables, PolyPulse included. It works by chaining generators - sources add waveforms, effects modify what came before - and you can set a value for the first and last table in a sequence, with everything in between generated automatically. A quick way to build evolving tables without drawing every frame by hand.
The update and the Koarse sounds are free to existing PolyPulse owners.
