GearExpo UK 2026: Iconic Instruments Detroit Drums

Tom from Iconic Instruments introduced us to the Detroit Drums, a plugin inspired by  the 1960s drum sound.

Detroit Drums samples two kits from the era, the S and L type (We're guessing Slingerland and Ludwig). Each drum can be tuned and dampened individually, a feature unique to Iconic Instruments.

There's then a 60s-style processing chain with emulations of Fairchild compressors, passive EQ, plate reverb, and tape machines.

These elements come together to recreate the warm and characterful sound associated with classic recordings of the times and often a source for old-school breakbeats and early hip-hop.

Priced at £75, with a special offer of £25 at GearExpo,
