AKAI Quadruple Power for Gen 2 One and Key 37

Akai has refreshed two of its standalone MPCs - the One and the Key 37 - giving both an 8-core processor, more memory, MPC3 OS. They also get a new paint job with the One G2 in Blue and the Key 37 G2 in the classic beige.

The One and Key 37 (which proved to be extremely popular) are the first to carry a "G2" generation tag, and Akai is positioning them as the second wave of standalone MPC production rather than just another update. Both claim to be four times the power of the outgoing models. 

What's shared across both machines

The two units run the same platform. Whether you're working on pads or keys, the workflow, sound engine, and performance are identical - the difference is the controller wrapped around them.

• G2 8-core processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Akai quotes 4x the processing of the previous generation, which translates to faster project loading and larger sessions.
• Up to 32 simultaneous plugin instruments and up to 16 stereo audio tracks, all running in standalone. That's probably enough headroom to finish a full arrangement on the hardware rather than treating it as a sketchpad.
• MPC3 OS (the 3.9 release at launch), which brings a full Linear Arranger and a DAW-style timeline view, expanded arrangement tools, a built-in oscillator engine for on-board synthesis, and tighter DAW interoperability.
• 7-inch full-color multitouch display on both units.
• USB-C hybrid connectivity: 24x24 multichannel audio streaming, 32 channels of MIDI I/O, and both host and device modes over a single cable. You can also sample directly from a phone, tablet, or other USB-C device.
• Ableton Live Control Mode plus Ableton project import and export, so either box can sit at the front of a session and hand off to Live for finishing.
• Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz, 802.11ac) and Bluetooth 5.
• Over 20GB of included content, with Native Instruments Analog Dreams MPC Edition thrown in free at launch.

If you've been running an older MPC into an interface with separate audio and MIDI connections, with the USB-C connection you can use just one cable.

MPC One G2

The One G2 is the compact desktop  MPC style unit for people who like to work on the pads. 

• 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive RGB pads across 8 banks.
• 4 touch-sensitive Q-Link knobs with 4 accessible columns.
• 5-pin MIDI in/out and 4 TRS CV/Gate jacks (8 outputs total) for hardware and modular integration.
• SD card slot and USB-A port for storage and accessories, alongside the USB-C port.
• 11 included plugins and 9 expansion packs.

The CV/gate count  useful if you're patching into modular - eight outputs from a desktop unit this size gives you control over an outboard rig without a separate interface.

MPC Key 37 G2 

The Key 37 G2 is for producers who write from a keyboard but want to stay inside the MPC workflow. 

• 37 synth-action keys with aftertouch, plus pitch bend and modulation wheels.
• 16 velocity- and pressure-sensitive RGB-backlit pads across 8 banks.
• 2 x 1/4" TRS inputs and 2 x 1/4" TRS outputs (stereo).
• 8 CV/gate outputs (4 x 1/8" TRS jacks) and 5-pin MIDI in/out.
• 13 included plugins - including OPX-4, Jura, and Sub Factory - and 6 expansion packs.

The two extra plugins over the One reflect its keys-and-composition leaning; OPX-4, Jura, and Sub Factory add some extra synth resources for writing rather than purely sample-led beat work.

Both units ship with over 20GB of content and the free NI Analog Dreams MPC Edition. Beyond the bundled plugins and expansions, Akai is offering an optional Pro Pack that unlocks a stem-separation algorithm (Pro Stems), Super Warp time-stretching, the Clip Matrix, and additional plug-in effects. Pricing for that add-on wasn't given.

Both machines are available from June 18, 2026 through authorized dealers and music retailers.
