Vienna Symphonic Library Updates

The Vienna Symphonic Library has announced the release of Vienna Ensemble Pro 8.1 and 8.1V, which they describe as major updates to its industry-standard network host and mixing solution. Here's the details in their own words..

Building on the success of Vienna Ensemble Pro 8, this update further refines the way composers, producers, and sound designers connect their computers, virtual instruments, and effects – while introducing an entirely new way to control Vienna Ensemble Pro with AI. Both updates are free for all registered users of Vienna Ensemble Pro 8 and 8V. To celebrate the release, VSL is offering special promotional pricing on both products from June 17 through July 14, 2026: Vienna Ensemble Pro 8 is available at €149 (reg. €199) and Vienna Ensemble Pro 8V at €299 (reg. €399). Upgrade prices from prior versions 6 and 7 are available, as are reduced prices for additional licenses.

Its unique Preserve function keeps plug-ins and sample libraries loaded while switching between projects or DAWs, saving enormous amounts of time. Control Vienna Ensemble Pro with AI
The headline addition in version 8.1 is a brand-new MCP server (Public Beta) that lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT Codex, or Google Antigravity connect directly to Vienna Ensemble Pro and help users build and manage their templates. Activated with a single click in the Preferences, this integration opens up an intuitive, conversational way to set up and organize even the largest orchestral templates. It requires users to have their own subscription to a supported AI assistant.

Rock-Solid Audio Input and Immersive Sound
Vienna Ensemble Pro 8.1 makes the Audio Input plug-in rock-solid across every host. It keeps incoming audio perfectly in time and now handles mono, stereo, surround, and immersive signals alike. The update also adds comprehensive support for today's immersive and 3D formats – from 7.1.x and 9.x up to 22.2, Dolby Atmos, and Auro-3D – with correct metering even at very high channel counts, across both the host and all included Vienna Suite Pro plug-ins.

Smarter Workflow, Safer Projects
A redesigned Automation browser makes managing automation far easier, with flexible views, instant search, and full undo. A reworked automatic-backup system keeps timed auto-saves and on-save backups side by side with the project, with fully configurable version counts. Smarter folder and channel handling lets users disable a folder while its channels retain their own state, complemented by a new Force Enable command and MIDI-aware channels that switch on automatically when they receive MIDI. Automatic VST2-to-VST3 migration of hosted plug-ins preserves saved states, and countless performance, stability, and interface refinements round out the release.

Vienna Ensemble Pro 8.1V – A Redesigned Vienna Video Pro
Vienna Ensemble Pro 8.1V additionally features a completely redesigned Vienna Video Pro, the plug-in for steaming video, even from remote machines. Its refreshed interface spans the timeline, transport, track controls, markers, regions, and dialogs, and adds a higher track-volume range, snap-to-start, and the ability to send transport (MMC/MTC) directly through its own MIDI output – making work to picture smoother than ever.
