Powerhouse Korg SDK developer - dukesrg, has implemented Soundfont/SF2 playback within the Korg Drumlogue & microKORG 2. Originally created in 1994 by EMU-Systems/Creative Labs, the soundfont format is a fairly CPU-light way of assembling multisample banks and assigning simple amp, filter and pitch modulation parameters to them.

SF2 is pretty unremarkable, synthesis wise - but due to the accessible nature of its many free editors and players, and support from most sample conversion tools, the format has acquired a dedicated following. 1000's of soundfonts exist online, most never designed to compete with scripted Kontakt libraries - but useful nonetheless. Retro Nintendo 64 fans might enjoy various game soundfonts - with samples and patches ready to play in your DAW, or indeed - your Drumlogue:
"LogueTSF is a custom synth/oscillator unit for KORG drumlogue and microKORG2 that allows it to load SoundFont files. The current version supports only standard uncompressed SoundFont files that must be placed in the Programs folder of the synthesizer. This project utilizes the TinySoundFont library by Bernhard Schelling, provided under the MIT License."
It's worth bearing in mind that the Drumlogue only has 32MB of storage - so only small soundfonts can be used. Additionally, this SDK unit is in an alpha state - Oleg states: "Sound artefacts/skipping can appear during SoundFont loading or a high number of sounding voices processed, due to CPU overload."
But yes, exciting - and another string to the Drumlogue's varied bow! Check it out here:
