Compax Synth: Majella Audio - Superbooth 2026

US New Synth from Majella Audio      09/05/26

At Superbooth 2026 we hooked up with Erwin and Jasper to find out about the new synth from Majella Audio - Compax which is a compact semi-modular desktop synthesizer introduced as a smaller and more focused counterpart to the Implexus Rather than attempting to cover a wide range of synthesis styles, the Compax concentrates on West Coast techniques, simplifying the overall design by removing the filter and second oscillator found on the larger model. In their place is a dedicated patch section with 20 patch points, giving the instrument a more direct emphasis on modulation and modular connectivity.

The sound architecture centers around a complex oscillator with continuously variable waveforms, supported by a wavefolder and noise source for additional tonal shaping. Modulation features include a syncable LFO with five waveform options and two rise-fall envelope generators, while the built-in sequencer offers a straightforward single-row layout with some indication of expanded functionality through the "Trig Row" control. Overall, the Compax appears aimed at users interested in a compact and patch-oriented West Coast workflow, though pricing and release details have not yet been announced as the unit is still being shown in prototype form.
