Superbooth 2026: Melbourne Instruments Nina Updates

US Nina gets Braids      08/05/26

We spoke to Ian from Melbourne Instruments at Superbooth 2026 where he presented significant updates for the Nina synthesizer. The core update involved integrating a new mode that replaces the wavetable with the Braids macro oscillator, courtesy of Mutable Instruments' open-source initiative. This feature brings 12 virtual Braids modules into the mix, routing them through an analog pipeline and an overdrivable ladder filter. These modules offer a diverse palette of sound, expanding Nina's capabilities with textures like FM sounds and folded wave shapes. The update also includes a bank of presets by their patch designers.

The company also updated another product, Roto, which now features level meters with peak hold stereo on each track and an intuitive touch-sensitive knob interface. These updates are available immediately as free downloads from Melbourne Instruments' website, melbourneinstruments.com, with additional DAW support coming soon.
