At Superbooth 2026 we met Aaron from 1010Music who introduced us to the Blackbox 2 an updated version of its compact sampler and sequencer with increased processing power and a redesigned 4-inch touchscreen interface. The unit offers four flexible tracks that can handle one-shots, loops, slicing, multisamples, granular-style "Shredder" playback, or external instruments, alongside expanded sequencing options including piano roll editing, probability, and live looping features. It also adds deeper sound design tools such as multiple filters, modulation routing, EQ, overdrive, and onboard effects, while retaining the portable workflow that made the original popular.
The Blackbox 2 appears aimed at users who want a self-contained production and performance setup in a compact format. Features like USB audio streaming, MIDI controller support, internal resampling, multisample creation, and microSD-based sample storage make it flexible for both studio and live use. With stereo input, multiple outputs, battery power, and performance-focused controls, it builds on the original concept rather than radically changing it, offering a capable and refined version of the Blackbox workflow.
