Superbooth 2026: Elta Music Polyvoks 8

US The 8 voice Polyvoks is here!      07/05/26

At Superbooth 2026 we met up with Vladi at the Elta Music Booth where we had our first encounter with Polyvoks-8

Polivoks-8 is an eight-voice analogue polysynth that takes clear inspiration from the original Soviet Formanta Polivoks while expanding the concept into a much more flexible modern instrument. Available in desktop and 4U rack formats, it combines fully analogue voice architecture with contemporary modulation, patch storage, and sequencing features. Each voice includes two analogue oscillators with FM, sync, ring modulation, and a sub oscillator, alongside dual filters that can be routed in series, parallel, or blended configurations. One filter closely follows the character of the original Polivoks design, while the second is a smoother ladder-style low-pass filter, giving the synth a fairly broad tonal range without losing its distinct edge.

Beyond the core sound engine, the Polivoks-8 offers a deep modulation structure with multiple envelopes, per-voice LFOs, programmable sequencing and arpeggiation, and a joystick that can act as a live modulation source or recorded motion controller. Despite the complexity, the interface appears designed for direct interaction, with dedicated encoders, tactile switches, and a small OLED display providing visual feedback without relying heavily on menus. In use, it feels less like a vintage recreation and more like a modern analogue polysynth that happens to carry some of the original Polivoks character forward.

Price: expected to be around 2,000 Euros
