Elastic OSC Released For Desktop

It has been announced that Elastic OSC has finally come to desktop. A spokesperson told us, "It's one of the few synths available across all major platforms: macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android. So you can start creating sounds anywhere on your phone or tablet, and then continue shaping them in your desktop workflow."

Simple by design. Powerful by nature.
Elastic OSC is an 8 voices polyphonic macro-oscillator synthesizer based on the
open-source code of Mutable Instruments Plaits. Its core idea: powerful sound design,
reduced to just four main parameters: Frequency, Harmonics, Morph, and Timbre.

These parameters shape the sound across all 24 oscillator models, allowing for dramatic
changes with minimal effort.

In Elastic OSC, the four core parameters are mapped to an expressive XY pad, enabling
fast and intuitive sound exploration. A second XY pad provides direct control over the
built-in effects, making sound design immediate, playful, and engaging.

Elastic Automation
Almost all parameters can be automated directly inside the instrument in loops from 1 to 4
bars and stored within presets.

This unique "elastic" feature is part of all our apps and makes sound design fun for both
beginners and professionals, often leading to more organic and surprising results than
traditional DAW automation.

Versatile sound design
Elastic OSC features 24 oscillator models, covering a wide range of synthesis methods:

• virtual analog & waveshaping
• FM & additive
• wavetable & granular
• physical modelling
• noise & experimental textures
• chords, speech, and drum synthesis

 

Switching oscillator models instantly transforms your sound while keeping modulation
and effects intact. Apply the same settings to a kick or physical modelling engine to unlock
entirely new sonic territories.

Master FX
Elastic OSC features a compact yet powerful master effects section, including:

• drive / distortion
• high-low-pass filter
• chorus / flanger
• delay
• reverb

 

All effect parameters can be automated and stored within presets, making effects an
integral part of sound design.

LFOs
Going beyond parameter automation, Elastic OSC offers 4 LFOs and a unique LFO
mixer, enabling slow, evolving movements as well as fast and complex modulation.
Instead of assigning LFOs one by one, you blend the outcome of 4 LFOs in the LFO mixer
to 6 selected synth parameters: Frequency, Timbre, Morph, Harmonics, Filter, Pan.

Different speeds, shapes, and intensities interact, creating evolving motion that feels less
like programming and more like playing with sound: a "modular playground" without the
patching. And of course, even LFO speed and shape can be automated - Elastic LFOs

MPE
Elastic OSC becomes even more versatile with MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression)
support.

With an intuitive mapping system, you can assign Glide (X), Slide (Y), and Pressure (Z)
to up to eight synthesis parameters. Each gesture works polyphonically, allowing every
note to evolve independently, with its own timbre, dynamics, and movement.

From subtle expression to complex textures, MPE turns Elastic OSC into a highly responsive and expressive instrument.

Desktop vs Mobile
The desktop version includes all features by default. MPE and additional LFOs, wich are
paid add-ons on mobile, are fully unlocked, along with additional desktop-only features.
