Iconic Instruments has introduced the Model 660 X Exciting Compressor, which they describe as an accurate 660-style compressor with some very unique features.
Here's more details direct from the company...
In 1963, engineer Lawrence Horn introduced the Exciting Compressor technique to the Pop world (HF-boosted, heavily compressed signal mixed in parallel), and it became widely used on many of your most favorite and classic tracks of the 1960's.
The result is added sparkle and punch, but without becoming strident, and it was a favorite move, particularly on vocals and drums in that era. The Exciting Compressor technique inspired the later New York Compressor technique, as well as the 1970's Aural Exciter hardware unit.
