Iconic Instruments ParametrEQ - Classic Detroit Console

US EQ plugin for under $30      31/03/26

Iconic Instruments has released ParametrEQ plug-in, a software emulation of the custom Detroit-modified passive EQ used on numerous classic 60s and 70s tracks.

  • Based on the modified Langevin EQ-252A, a staple of Detroit recording studios.
  • 7 bands with fixed, musically tuned frequencies rather than fully sweepable parameters.
  • Variable Q behaviour: bandwidth tightens naturally as you apply more boost or cut.
  • +/- 8dB cut and boost per band, plus a master gain control.
  • Fully automatable in VST, AU, and AAX formats.
  • Priced at $29 during the introductory period.

Iconic Instruments ParametrEQ

This plugin is for producers seeking the vibe of vintage console EQs without the hardware cost. The variable Q is what they are known for, allowing for broad shaping or aggressive cuts depending on knob position. While fixed frequencies might limit surgical dog-whistle removal, the musical selection makes it suitable for buses and mix bus processing where tone is the priority. It offers a slice of US analog history at an impulse-buy price point.

  • Price: $29 (intro price $39)
  • Formats: VST / AU / AAX
  • Platforms: Mac and Win
