Paulee Bow takes a look at the latest desktop synth from Waldorf. The Protein is a budget wavetable synth which packs a lot of power with a sonic flavour from some of the classic Waldorf instruments, but also something of its own.

It's an 8-voice, 4-part multi-timbral, with two wavetable oscillators per voice - based on the Microwave oscillators (including the wavetables), modeled filters based on CEM analogues, 3 envelopes, 2 LFOs, 8-slot mod matrix, two effect slots.
It packs a lot of punch for such a budget instrument:
€329 when its back in stock.
