Radiohead's Arena Production

US Impressive sound, light & kinetic show in Berlin      26/01/26

Direct from Berlins Uber Arena, here's a video on Radiohead's Arena Production, taking a look at the Sound, Light & Kinetics with mothergrid. With a wealth of companies, brands and people behind the operation, it's a huge undertaking which has been meticulously planned and executed, with thought for everyone in the audience and the band themselves. More here:

Four nights, one venue, and a production design that breaks with classic arena conventions: At the final of four Radiohead shows at the Uber Arena Berlin, mothergrid takes a close look at the technical concepts behind one of the most complex touring productions of the moment.

In this on-site report, *Markus Wilmsmann (mothergrid)* talks directly to the crew responsible for live sound, lighting design, kinetic systems, video automation and rigging. The show is staged in the round - placing the audience around the band and turning audio coverage, lighting control and safety concepts into a real challenge.

*Live Sound*
The audio team explains how an arena-wide PA setup with only eight hangs is achieved using the L-Acoustics L2 system, why the subwoofer concept is flown above the stage, and how spill, coverage and redundancy are handled in a 360-degree environment.

*Lighting & Kinetics*
Lighting Director Pryderi Baskerville gives insight into a fully live-driven lighting show with kinetic winches, controlled without timecode. Moving lights gain an additional Z-axis, requiring new programming approaches, close coordination and strict safety protocols.

*Video & Automation*
Live-generated video content, automated LED screens and real-time effects are tightly integrated with lighting and movement. The result is a single, coherent visual language rather than separate departments working side by side.

*Rigging & Safety*
Head rigger and automation specialists explain how mothergrid systems, trim heights and lightweight PA components make this production possible inside modern sports arenas - efficiently and repeatably on tour.

This video is aimed at professionals working in *live sound**, **sound design**, **lighting design**, touring production and event technology who want to understand not just *what is happening on stage, but why these decisions are made.
