NAMM 26: AlphaTheta Chordcat Composing Tool

US 8 track groovebox, build a pallette of chords      25/01/26

Our friend Rich Nicol from Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers - very kindly dropped by a few NAMM booths and filmed some videos for us - thanks Rich!

The Chordcat is a portable, battery-powered eight-track groove box and song arrangement device, designed to assist you in developing chord progressions and melodies using algorithmic functions.

And yes, this is the same AlphaTheta who make high end DJ gear - an interesting product from them.

The Chordcat features preloaded patterns that can expand from one to eight bars and a pattern chain function for seamless track sequencing and arrangement building. Devon demonstrated the Chordcat's interesting chord packs, which include jazz, house, and drum and bass, letting you create unique progressions with its special chord cruiser function. This tool dynamically suggests chord candidates, enhancing your creative process.

The Chordcat has 145 on board sounds, 16 drum kits, and connectivity through five-pin and USB MIDI. With a free software utility, you can easily transfer your musical ideas as MIDI files to your DAW, making it a practical companion for both road trips and studio sessions.

Chordcat retails for $329 which doesn't seem expensive, available now.
