Steinberg Updates Mobile Music Creation Software

US Cubasis Version 3.8 released alongside two brand-new piano apps for mobile devices      18/12/25

Steinberg has announced the immediate availability of Cubasis 3.8, which they describe as a major update to its Cubasis 3 recording app, alongside the all-new Verve and Etude piano instruments for iPhone and iPad. Here's the details direct from Steinberg...

Bringing the quality and versatility of recording anywhere on mobile devices to the same
level as studio-based recording has taken another leap forward with Cubasis 3.8, launched
alongside Verve and Etude for iPhone and iPad -- two contrasting, yet complimentary piano
instruments crafted for Cubasis and other AUv3-compatible mobile DAW apps. Verve and
Etude are also available via Cubasis in-app purchases on Android.

Cubasis 3.8
Guitarists and bass players can now enjoy an even better mobile recording experience,
thanks to the new Amp Rack and Bass Amp suites in Cubasis 3.8. Choosing different
amplifiers and stomp box effects is the key to getting great recorded guitar and bass
sounds. The Amp Rack and Bass Amp suites both feature collections of legendary amplifier
models and versatile, professional-level stomp box effects. With manual controls alongside a wide range of immediately usable presets, it is straightforward to dial in a great sound for
any musical style. An all-new Tuner is also included, with simple and advanced user modes,
ultra-fast response and intuitive controls to ensure any instrument will be precisely in tune.
Further refinements to Cubasis 3.8 include Bluetooth audio recording, audio input/output
device selection and support for import and export of Tempo and Signature track data in
MIDI files, making it easier to preserve timing and structure across apps and devices. With
portrait mode, Windowed Apps and external display support making it even more flexible for
the user, Cubasis 3.8 makes mobile music creation more powerful than ever.

Verve and Etude for iPhone and iPad
Verve is a highly detailed felt piano, its sound captured using a custom-built robot for ultra-
precise key velocity and consistency. Its warm, intimate tones are enhanced with cinematic
textures created using metal, glass, dry ice, electromagnetic fields, and orchestral strings.
These blend effortlessly with the piano sound, creating a uniquely expressive instrument
which is perfect for emotive scoring and expressive songwriting, as well as for creating
ambient textures and immersive soundscapes.

Etude offers the expressive depth of a Yamaha C3X concert grand piano, recorded in an
acoustically optimized space for maximum tonal richness and dynamic realism. Featuring a
delicate harmonic richness at the top end, with deep, warm tones in the lower octaves,
Etude is ideal for songwriting and performing with unmatched authenticity.

Both of these exceptional piano apps offer seamless integration with Cubasis and other
AUv3-compatible DAWs. By connecting them to an external MIDI keyboard or audio
interface, they can be taken anywhere for recording and performance -- whether at home,
on stage, or on the move. Owners of Cubasis and Verve or Etude can access an additional
Cubasis plug-in version of the instrument at no extra cost, for enhanced integration and
peak performance.

Verve and Etude are also available as in-app purchases in Cubasis for Android.

Iconica Sketch for iPhone and iPad
The Iconica Sketch app has been updated to Version 1.1, delivering useful improvements
and fixes to make the orchestration experience even smoother. They include full
compatibility with iOS 26 on iPhone and iPad, while standalone and Cubasis plug-in users
no longer need to install content twice.

"We're proud to finish 2025 with the record-breaking achievement of five major mobile app
releases: Cubasis and Cubasis LE 3.8, Verve, Etude, and Iconica Sketch 1.1,"
says
Marketing Manager Lars Slowak. "Cubasis 3.8 turns iPhone, iPad or Android devices into a
complete studio for recording, performing, and producing anywhere; the new Verve and
Etude apps deliver world-class piano experiences for iOS and AUv3 DAWs, while Iconica
Sketch 1.1 adds key improvements for even smoother orchestration on the go. Together,
these releases empower musicians from any genre to create great music everywhere --
from quick ideas to full productions."
