Arturia has introduced the AstroLab 37, which is a compact version of the AstroLab engine, a powerful standalone stage keyboard with 11 Synth Engines and 40+ Arturia software titles from the V-Collection. The original 61 key, we looked at in our review and found it to be a very capable performance keyboard though does not give full editing access to the sounds - unless you own the full software licences - in which case you can create and save your own patches back to the unit and tailor this immensely powerful sound engine to your own needs. Without, you still get access to all those engines, but have less tweakablility.
Essentially the AstroLab 37 - has the same DSP power as the full size - so that is Pigments, many Analogue Lab sounds plus sample based playback engines, modelled sounds and more, but with a reconfiguration of the controls, gone is the Hive like screen bevel control, replaced with its own dedicated encoder.
If you already own a larger keyboard, then you can easily control the engine and if you add some MIDI knobs or faders, you can control a LOT of the sounds. Bearing in mind this synth engine on its standalone hardware is priced at $799, making it a pretty powerful heart to your rig.

Studio to Stage - and Everywhere Between
AstroLab 37 isn't trying to replace your main stage rig - it's more like the Swiss army knife that fits in your backpack. Whether you're layering textures with split multis, dialing in artist presets, or triggering a full track with a single finger, it's built to respond quickly and musically.
A few neat tricks:
Dual-hand performance mode: great for complex live patches.
Wireless playback: stream backing tracks via Bluetooth.
Vocoder on any patch: no routing gymnastics needed.
On-the-fly preset tweaks: via dedicated knobs and mobile app.
