RIP Mani

A Manchester music icon, Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, bassist for The Stone Roses, has sadly died at the age of 63, leaving behind twin sons aged 12. His wife Imelda died in November 2023, which he mentions in this interview. A larger than life figure, he was instrumental in the music scene for many years - influenced by the sounds of the 1960s and Northern Soul.  

He joined the Stone Roses in 1987 and played on both their albums before the group disbanded in 1996, he joined Primal Scream later that year, performing on all five albums from Vanishing Point to Beautiful Future. Mani left Primal Scream in 2011 to participate in the Stone Roses' reunion before the band broke up for a second time in 2017.

There are so many iconic bass lines, it's hard to pick one...  hats off to you sir!
