Chris from GPU Audio gave us some info on the latest developments from GPU Audio - whose remit is to offload real-time audio processing to the often under-utilized GPU processor most modern computers have available.
First up was the multichannel spatial reverb plug-in Living Sky from Mntra. Living Sky offers extensive spatial audio capabilities with 64 input channels and 36 output channels, ideal for immersive audio settings like installations and gaming. Combining algorithmic and convolution techniques, it supports 5th order ambisonics, making it flexible for complex spatial movements. Controlled like a standard VST, it's integrated with a visual interface for moving sound sources around a 3D space.
Also shown was the AnalogX Genesis Pro, a hardware modelling system in now public beta. Designed to emulate vintage gear, it models EQs, compressors, and mixing desks. The plug-in's computational demands are also offloaded to the GPU, optimizing CPU use and enhancing performance.
Genesis Pro is expected to release before year-end, priced at £89.99, including five hardware model packs.
Finally, we discussed the latest GPU Audio SDK Module, premiered at the show - Real-Time Source Separation done on the GPU with latency as low as 11ms (not the 5ms stated). Sign up for the FREE GPU Audio SDK here.
