Creating Cinematic Pulses

In this video, Jono Buchanan takes us through adding some low end cinematic pulses to our music - in Logic Pro, but these tips are good for any DAW. He goes through choosing a sound and building up the tension using an arpeggiator, then on to tone shaping using envelope and velocity - finishing up with further thoughts, and some promo of his own Cinematic Pulse collection. Many third-party synth libraries offer sounds which I'd call 'Cinematic Pulses'. These are sequences which keep in time with your productions and provide the kind of bass and low-mid range driving patterns which help keep cues for TV shows pulsing and pushing onwards, to create tension, jeopardy and intrigue. This week, I'm going to show you how to make and configure one of these, using Retro Synth and some extended Arpeggiator techniques.
