Coding Music in VS Code with Tone.js

US Other platforms are available      06/11/25

Live coding music has a bit of a cult following and phrases like "algo-rave" have been thrown around to inject an element of "coolness" into what is, in its essence, someone programming in front of an audience. We appreciate the sound is what is important! Here we have a video on coding music using Visual Studio and Tone.js with the help of co-pilot, Githubs's AI powered mutant sidekick - some call it "vibe coding", which is almost as cringy as the term algo-rave. Here's more..

In this episode, Julia builds a browser-based DJ app from scratch, generating code and experimenting with real-time beats that turn VS Code into a music studio. By coding music patterns, beats, and effects live with Tone.js and GitHub Copilot, she shows how AI can compose, layer, and remix techno-inspired sounds straight from code. It's vibe coding, creativity, and rhythm all in one fun, interactive demo.
