Bristronica 25: Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith Rig Tour

US live Buchla, OB Sem      10/10/25

We spoke to Kaitlyn Aurelia-Smith, who performed at Bristronica with a setup featuring the Buchla Music Easel, Oberheim SEM, the OP-1, Arturia, and Sensel controllers.

She also uses a launch pad for customized matrix pages, and a headset mic for vocal processing and looping.

Her recent album "Gush" drew inspiration from the concept of object empathy and was written with a live set in mind, involving extensive use of analog gear for sound sampling.

Kaitlyn  has a special Buchla Music Easel, as it was her first synthesizer, while the Oberheim SEM was chosen for its evocative filter.  She also incorporates Ableton for looper functions and effects to avoid carrying extra gear during travels.
