Bristronica 25: Tim Exile's New Live Rig

US Flow Machine is gone, enter Pattern Shift      08/10/25

We had a chat with Tim Exile, who was performing his first gig for several years - previous shows were using his legendary Flow Machine which was a complex setup with a lot of bespoke software and integration.
The core of Tim's new system is Pattern Shift, a generative system with a fully parametric sequencer that allows every parameter to morph into another.

He upgraded the main controller to the Behringer X -Touch from the  BCF-2000 for his performances, but keeping the Querty keyboard  - Tim is aiming for a more structured performance narrative with a touch of improvisation, rather than relying heavily on spontaneity, which he feels can lead to a lower consistent show quality.
