A New Take On Wavetable Synthesis

US Dawesome releases KONTRAST      03/10/25

Dawesome/Tracktion has announced the release of KONTRAST, which they describe as a radical new take on wavetable synthesis that turns sound into terrain and brings back the excitement producers have been craving since the early days of Serum and PPG. Here's the details in their own words...

For over a decade, wavetable synthesis has seen endless refinement -- more features, more modulation lanes, more presets. And yet, many producers feel that the spark is gone. KONTRAST is here to change that.

Instead of slicing wavetables with a single straight line, KONTRAST lets you use any shape you want -- circles, curves, spirals, even chaotic squiggles. The result: sounds that feel alive, breathing, unpredictable in all the right ways. "Don't change the wavetable -- change how you move through it," says the team at Dawesome.

KONTRAST is not in a feature race. It's not about stacking more oscillators or FX. It's about breaking free from the sterile, one-dimensional paradigm and giving producers a playful, intuitive way to create inspiring sounds -- fast. Twist. Feel. Done.

Available as VST3 and AU for macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon) and VST3 for Windows.

Pricing and Availability:
Intro pricing is $89 / €89 (regular $149 / €149). A  90-day free trial lets you explore every corner of its sound-shaping terrain with zero risk.
