Expert sleepers have recently enabled tinkerers to get tinkerin' with their powerful Disting NT. I haven't played with the module myself yet, but I do own previous versions of the Disting.
This large screened-module contains all sorts of interesting, exotic algorithms - an envelope sequencer, Pulsar VCO, chaos generator, granulator and multiple sample players. However, I thought I'd highlight a couple of other features - ones which may sound kind of dry and technical, but are actually incredibly exciting: The Three Pot Algorithm, Faust Support & Lua Scripts.
Three Pot Algorithm
From v1.5.0 - this inconspicuously-named algorithm added whole worlds of sound to the NT. It allows owners to run Spin FV1 algorithms! Yep, the code that powered 1000 reverb pedals can run on the Disting, with many presets available online.
Faust & Lua Scripts
If that wasn't enough, firmware v1.7.0 then added Faust support & Lua Scripts. I'm not a coder, having quit after ZX BASIC - but it appears to me that these are two fairly high level languages that allow you to code DSP oscillators/filters/effects - in the case of Faust, and cool little sequencers, in the case of Lua. Additionally, it seems that many example programs exist! The Disting world is sure getting exciting, I wonder where Os will go next?
