Supercritical Synthesizers has rolled out Firmware Update 1.3 for the Redshift 6, bringing long-awaited 6-part multitimbrality and multitimbral presets into the mix.
This update significantly deepens the synth's capabilities without complicating its workflow -- a welcome move for performers and sound designers alike. They also released a lovely outdoors demo from their booth at Bungalowdorf from this year's Superbooth.
Key Additions in Firmware 1.3
6-Part Multitimbrality
Redshift 6 now supports up to six independent parts -- each one can be mono, para-, or polyphonic. No dedicated multitimbral mode needed: just activate a new part with a button press.
Multitimbral Presets
Supercritical has included factory multitimbral presets and now allows preview-on-browse -- so presets auto-load while you scroll. Handy for quick sound auditioning.
Envelope CC Assignments
Amp and filter (VCF) ADSR controls now respond to MIDI CCs -- good news for controller integration and automation.
Key Range Control
A new Low/High key limit feature per part gives more performance and layering flexibility, especially in live setups.
General Polish
Various under-the-hood improvements and bug fixes bring a more stable and refined experience.
Even before the update, the Redshift 6 was a getting a lot of attention. At its core, each of the 6 voices houses a Demon Core Oscillator pumping out up to 16 analog oscillators per voice making 96 total when fully stacked.
Each voice includes:
Dual oscillators + noise per paraphonic note (up to 5 per voice)
Dedicated DCO envelopes for shaping
4-pole analog multimode filter with drive and character
4 envelopes, 4 LFOs
32-slot mod matrix
Available now priced at around £1099 UK
