We had a chat with Brian and Johannes from Ableton, who gave us a look at the exciting new updates in Move 1.5 during Superbooth 2025. The update focused on enhancing flexibility, introducing new sampling capabilities, and expanding MIDI functionalities. Brian demonstrated how 1.5 allowed for creative beat-making by sketching beats, loading samples into a drum rack, and slicing these samples using a jog wheel, offering up to 16 slices.
The updated auto-filter added to the immersive experience with its range of effects like the beat sync filter, which was described as both performative and experimental in nature. The enhanced MIDI capabilities included full MIDI in-out per track and MIDI-clock sync, enabling Move to better integrate with external hardware.
Johannes joined the conversation, highlighting the importance of community feedback from Discord and how it helped steer development. The update aimed to transform Move into a flexible tool for both mobile composition and live performances. More Info:
