Superbooth 2025: Haken Audio - Continuum

We had a chat with Edmund from Haken Audio, who demonstrated the Continuum Fingerboard at Superbooth 2025. As a polyphonic MPE controller with its own internal sound engine, the Continuum Fingerboard continues to evolve with both hardware and firmware improvements. Edmund demonstrated new sound algorithms featuring resonating filters, like bi-quad filters fundamental to physical modeling, which help avoid instability while generating rich, metallic sounds.

Edmund also elaborated on the 'touch area' feature, which allows different parts of the playing surface to process sound in unique ways, creating intricate performances. He highlighted the customizable interface and explained how it enhances expression by allowing nuanced control over timbre and pitch. The Continuum also supports overlays, simplifying complex programming for focused tasks, such as FM synthesis or emulating specific timbres like the Genie oscillator.
