Superbooth 2025: Frap Tools - Magnolia 8 Voice Synth

We had a chat with Giovanni  from Frap Tools, who gave us a look at the Magnolia, their new eight-voice analog synth with through-zero FM and bi-timbral architecture. Designed with a nod to modular origins, Magnolia features two oscillators per voice: Oscillator 1 handles through-zero FM with wave shaping and folding, while Oscillator 2 offers more traditional waveshapes including PWM and sawtooth modulation.

Each voice passes through a mixer, resonant high-pass and low-pass filters, and two six-stage loopable envelopes, all of which can be assigned across a flexible modulation matrix. The synth supports dual and split modes for layered sounds and evolving textures. Polyphonic aftertouch, velocity sensitivity, and a visual modulation routing interface enhance the hands-on control.

Giovanni also mentioned upcoming features like effects, unison spread, and parameter morphing. The unit is set for release later in 2025 at a projected price of €3,995.
