Superbooth 2025: Torso Electronics - S4 2.0 Sculpting Sampler

We had a chat with Jacob from Torso Electronics who showed us the updated S4 2.0 at Superbooth 2025. Known for its 4-track sampling capabilities, the S4 is described as a "sculpting sampler," allowing you to load samples or use external inputs to creatively manipulate audio. The 2.0 update introduced a range of new features, including the Scene function, which provides up to 128 different scenes, letting you switch samples and settings on the fly.

The Perform function acted as a global macro control, managing settings across all scenes with ease. The S4 features a granular engine, filtering options, drive and compression, bit crushing, and delay-reverb effects. With four gigabytes of internal storage, the sampler also supports external USB drives for expanded memory. Streaming audio directly from external disks means there's no limit on sample length.
