Superbooth 2025: Bastl Instruments - Wave Bard Sample Player

We spoke with Václav from Bastl, who gave us a look at the WaveBard, a new sampling device introduced as part of their Kastle 2 series at Superbooth 2025. The WaveBard is a stereo sampler with unique functionalities, designed to work with AA batteries or USB. It boasts of sync in/out and audio in/out capabilities, simplifying connectivity without needing additional mixers. The device supports sound and rhythm creation through a mini-pitch bay, making it versatile for creating and modulating sound patterns.

In addition, Václav showcased the FX Wizard, a multi-effects processor that partners well with WaveBard to further enhance sound design with effects like pitch shifting, delay, chorus, and a unique freezing function. This setup not only offered individual sound creation but allowed modulation across various effect parameters, all in a compact and accessible platform.
