Superbooth 2025: Pittsburgh Modular - Boom Chick + Assembler

We had a chat with Rich from Pittsburgh Modular, who showcased two exciting new products from Create Audio. Rich introduced the Boom Chick, an all-analog drum machine featuring modern digital sequencing capabilities. The design emphasized hands-on control, with analog voicing routed through active knobs, allowing for a dynamic experience. The digital sequencer included features such as ratcheting, humanize, quantize, and chance for deep customization, with patterns up to 64 steps long. The Boom Chick was designed with a focus on unique, snappy, and contemporary sounds, distinct from classic models like the 808 or 909, built from scratch to offer something different in a performative context.

Rich also presented the Assembler Mixer, a 10-channel analog mixer with EQ and multiple aux sends for flexibility. Each channel included a boost, overdrive, and soft compression to enhance audio quality, making it a practical tool for various audio setups. Rich hinted at upcoming customizable stands, adaptable for various music gear setups.
